Examiner Week!!

So I never got anything to do with this  project on the Monday as I had an interview for Glasgow City College (which I think went pretty well) and I then spent the day in Glasgow with my boyfriend and then we went to go see Frankie Boyle at night.

Needless to say I was pretty worn out on the Tuesday but I did manage to organise my research file and add some additional notes in my sketchbook after someone suggested I do this after the sketchbook swap. This week has pretty much been examiner prep as it was this week that we were to have a quick discussion with them about our work. This went quite well I think as she seemed to be quite interested in my work and has given me a few ideas and things to think about.

I have also been looking more into using pinboards to display my routes

When walking my dog I went looking for some of the survey messages I left behind and here's what I found:

I'm at the end of my little concept sketchbook and am now going to move onto an A4 one now, it's weird because now that the examiners talk is over and the Easter holidays are coming up soon, it almost feels like the beginning of the end of this year.

Inspiration of the Week - 100 Years Project

The 100 Years Project is an online project by internet content creator Dana Roc in which she asks people what they want to be remembered for in 100 years.

This project is really interesting as almost everyone wants to be remembered for something, and there is a wide range for what people want to be remembered showing human diversity and personality.

The answers themselves were interesting because of how detailed some of them can be, like the person has been thinking a lot about it and thinking about it quite deeply, whereas some of them are simple one word answers.

For my project I am interested in looking into why and in what ways we want to be remembered and so I think this project is a good piece of research to have.

However the point that I want to make with this project is that we will be forgotten and that that isn't necessarily a bad thing. 

I am planning on making my mark being somehow related to the ways that we try to be noticed and remembered amidst the crowd.

Inspiration of the Week - Marc Isaacs

Marc Isaacs is a documentary film maker whose films usually investigate people and their ordinary lives.

I first heard about his film Lift last year in our video skills class and thought that it was a brilliant documentary on the real people that live in the London flats and showed their real reactions to the camera man. 

The film documents the host of characters that all live in the building and shows how they increasingly more comfortable with the camera and the questions the camera man asks. 

The reason that I am looking at this artist is that I am both looking at how I am going to document my next project and also looking into the idea of interviewing real people or looking into real places, rather than how places are shown to be in the media.

Over the course of the documentary Isaacs doesn't move but just stays in the lift, which is an element of work that I am considering. I might try and go to the one space over a number of days and then move t a different one for another number of days.
