Easter update - Organisation and Preperation

On the last week before Easter I started taking photos for catalogue thing seeing as the college has better lighting in my house. I think some of them turned out quite well as I managed to get a decent angle with my tripod. I then began editing these to make them look better so that I could put them in a catalogue format.

I've also been trying to focus down what I want my exhibition looks like, and trying to think of if I want it to be museum like or a bit more clinical. I've pretty much decided that I want it to be more clinical so that I am more inviting people into my investigation and the can interact with the files etc.

Fist thing I wanted to get done over the Easter break was to get my pdp and essay stuff done so that i was free to focus my whole attention on my project for a week. Pdp took longer than I was expecting but I managed to get it done and I'm quite happy about it and I did manage to get my essay done but it was a bit grating but I pulled through and am still alive so there's that.

So my mind and my project have been a bit all over the place for the past few weeks. I haven't been on as many walks as I had hoped, mostly due to the fact that I have been so busy. The main achievement of this holiday was that I think I've got my head back in the right place, and I am now looking forward to really putting my teeth back into this project that I feel I have almost abandoned. There only like 6 more weeks left *ferociously holds back hyperventilating* but I think if I put my head down I can do it.

So what's left, what do I have to do in these six weeks?

1 - Walk.
Well I think I've got the walk idea down now. The main purpose for the walks will be to "swap" my mark for someone else's. So essentially for the next six weeks - do more of those.

2 - Buy furniature and stuff like that for my exhibition.
I think I've got what I want my exhibition to look like fully in my head - sort of like a clinical laboratory for people to explore. So I need to buy all that stuff, everyone wish Róisín's bank account the best of luck.

3 - Catalogue.
I want to have an online catalogue of all the items I have found available for people to view so I need to start making this. I do have some photos but I need to make sure they are all documented and then put online.

Well those are the main things at least, I'll still have other things to put in here and there and God knows I'll probably come up with some other idea that I'll need to do so there's that.

But that's all I've got for you just now,
until next time,

Update :D

So there's not much to say here cause it feels like I've not been to college in ages.

Over reading week I had the plan to finish up my presentation, complete my mini-portfolio stuff for Edinburgh uni and write my PLP, and in  stunning turn of events I actually stuck to my plan. Horray!! Pop open the champagne and unleash the confetti!

I finished up my presentation pretty early and I quite like how it looks and I now have plenty of time for practise so I'm happy with how that's worked out.

I submitted my mini-portfolio last night, I mean I'm not all that hopeful that I'll get in but I did put in effort to the images I submitted so maybe there is some small slim chance, who knows.

And with the PLP I'm sort of happy with how it's going, this isn't the final one yet so I think it'll be a little more refined by the time I need to submit it. I'll be talking to my mentor soon so I think I'll be a bit happier after that.

So that's all I really have for now
Hopefully my next post will be a little more interesting :P

Just a Quickie

So this is just a quick update on what I've been doing the past few days.

I haven't had much of a chance to do any quote unquote "real" work as this is just the research stage, for a pretty big thing I might add so I am going to be taking my time and thinking it through. As you can see I've been posting a lot of my "Inspiration of the Week" and all of these are going to be included in my artist research sketchbook. So as of now I'm just taking what these artists have done on board and I have also been brainstorming a few ideas as well. So this time next week I'll have a PLP and a (hopefully) formulated idea to talk about.

In other news I've finished my presentation for my contextual studies class and I am quite happy with how it's turned out, now just a few practise runs to see if I can fit all those words in there :P

Here's a quick preview:

Another thing that I've been working on is my submission of mini portfolio for Edinburgh university, this isn't so much a hard process, but it is definitely long and tedious at times, but I am getting there.

So that's all for now,
Until next time,

Planning for Graduation

So our brief for our personal development planning (or creative futures as it's now know) is to write up a report on where we plan on going after we finish our degree. So it's important stuff.

Right now I'm still doing some research but I think the bulk of it is done now. I didn't think I would find it all that interesting however I have discovered some things tat I will definitely consider doing in future, which mostly includes volunteering abroad.
Here are a couple of them I looked at:

My plan is really to go into art therapy, but not immediately, for three reasons:
  1. I'm not sure if I want to go into the clinical, more theory based art therapy, or more practical art therapy
  2. I would need to get art therapy to go into this course anyway
  3. I want some life experience before diving into a career path
There are also other things I want to consider like opening, or being a part of local workshops in my community, which would mean getting experience of these before hand as there are none availabe right now and so I would need to open my own one. Also to get these experiences I would be better off learning to drive as I think this would be easier as some workshops would be out of the way and harder for me to attend via public transport.

That's all for now

Essay Proposal

So this week we had to submit our essay proposals, which means that we had to make a more finalised decision on what our essays are on D:

So I have a vague idea kinda on what I want to do. I definitely want to look at fan culture in some form and was thinking of looking at the idea of fans using tshirts to express their involvement in this community/ fandom. I'm not sure how far I can take this idea but I suppose my lecturer will help me out with that.

It is a slight continuation of what I did last year so I decided to look at these books here:

I'm not really sure how relevant they will be but I don't think that it will have hurt too much to ave read them ;)

Anyway bye for now :)

Planning ahead

So like I said last week, the Easter holidays weren't as productive as I had hoped they would be affter getting some pretty bad news in the first week. So my enthusiasm for my art wok took a bit of a hit but I think I'm more of a positive mood now so I think I can get back on track (hopefully).
Because of this, and because I had an essay due I haen't got much practical work done, but I do have some ideas brewing in the back of my head.

I managed to get my essay done and submitted, I'm a little under the word limit but I think I can manage to get some more done to it for the final submission.

I have also got up a new plan for the rest of the year with a space for each day (btdubbs this terrified me to see just how little time I have left arrrrrghghg) so I am going to try and stick to it and get stuff done ahead of time. Fingers crossed.

So that's all I've got for you right now, but I think I'm in a better place than I have been the past couple of weeks so I think I can manage to get stuff done.

Until next time-
